Easy Cleaning Hacks That Will Save You Time

Getting your house spotless is always the goal, whether it’s Spring Cleaning time or just a regular weekend! I’ve pulled together some of my favorite cleaning hacks that will help you save time and still feel good about your space.

Let’s be real, though—my house is definitely not spotless. Keeping everything in order is no easy task with a two-year-old tornado running around. But here’s the thing: your home doesn’t have to be perfect! We live in our homes, so of course, things get messy. The key is not to let it get so out of hand that you’d be embarrassed if someone dropped by unexpectedly.

With these helpful tips, you’ll have your home looking clean in no time. Let’s dive in!

Helpful Cleaning Hacks

  • Always clean your furniture first. You don’t want to vacuum the floor then take your couch cushions off and find a ton of crumbs everywhere and have to pull the vacuum back out.
  • Dust off all picture frames and glass.
  • Clean your light fixtures with a duster or cloth.
  • To get rid of the dust on your walls and ceilings, use a Swiffer with a dry sheet attached.
  • Wipe down and disinfect doorknobs (cabinets and dressers too!)
  • Use the small brush attachment with your vacuum to get the dust off your baseboards.
  • Use a damp (but soft!) rag to dust off railings, details on furniture, and any other small details (like wainscoting) to remove accumulated dust.
  • Small rugs, blankets, and pillows should be shaken outside to remove any accumulated dust.
  • Clean the bathroom once a week with a quick wipe down with a Lysol wipe.
  • Clean the key areas of your kitchen after every use, and try to do your dishes after dinner.

More Time-Saving Cleaning Hacks

  • Caked-on or sticky dirt on kitchen floors can be gently scrubbed off by using a scrubbing pad.
  • If I have a stuck-on piece of food or sauce (like on the stove), I’ll let warm, soapy water sit on it for a few minutes while I’m cleaning something else and go back over it.
  • Waiting for dinner to cook and have time to spare? Dust the top of your fridge! Wipe the cupboard doors, too.
  • Use water and lemon in a microwaveable safe bowl and place it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes to loosen caked-on food. Be careful; that water will be HOT when you take it out. Wipe down the loosened food with a dish sponge.

My Last Tip…

This is my favorite cleaning hack, and it’s to have FUN cleaning! Play some music. Yes, this may make your cleaning time a little longer because you’ll probably be dancing, but we don’t want cleaning to be so boring and mundane.
